Arctic fine art photography

"The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera."
— Dorothea Lange

I am at my happiest outside, with family and friends. Most days that means biking or hiking on the Varanger peninsula in all kinds of weather. The camera comes along because it changes how I pay attention. It forces me to slow down and look at what is actually there. The smaller things especially. Arctic macro photography shows that there is an extraordinary amount going on, if you stop long enough to notice.

Based in Vadsø in Arctic Norway, my photos are mostly of the landscapes and nature of the Varanger peninsula. The region is remote and often overlooked. Large and open, but full of small detail when you take the time. From the returning light after the polar night to the intimate world of Arctic macro photography, there is always something worth stopping for.

I encourage everyone to go outside and look closely.
